Read Aloud West Virginia’s mission is to motivate children to WANT to read, because motivation is the critical first step in developing any skill. We work to change the literacy culture of West Virginia by keeping reading material in the hands and on the minds of our state’s children…
Our trained volunteer readers serve as a commercial for reading and send a powerful message that reading is an enjoyable lifetime activity.
We provide students with books through a variety of programs because access to books is essential to raising a generation of readers.
We help teachers create text-rich, reader friendly schools through free events, resources, book distributions, and volunteer readers.
We educate on the importance of reading to children from infancy into adolescence, the value of a print-rich environment, and more!
